This project was conceived after the realisation that although much has been
said and written about the arrival of people from East Africa in Loughborough,
little or nothing has been recorded about the coming of people from Bangladesh.

In 2000 Paul Gent set of on his second journey to the Balkans travelling to
the Croatian town of Pula, through Bosnia, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia
to join a summer camp working with traumatised children of the massacres in
the Kosovan town of Gjakova.

This video is one of a number that we started making with Pat who, sadly,
passed away before this project was completed. People making places is dedicated
to her memory and the wonderful enthusiasm she had for everything we were
trying to do.

If ever there was a CHARNWOOD person who embodied the word "eccentric",
it was Montague Bertie Bird, Rector of St Mary's Church, Walton on the Wolds.

Alkemade's Story
During the 2nd World War, my father was a rear gunner in a Lancaster, only
21 years of age on a bombing mission over Germany. One evening the plane was
shot by a German fighter, shot into flames.

Doris Tovey born in the 1920's. She was just one of the 150 evacuees brought
to Loughborough from London during World War Two.

Mountsorrel farmer Gregg Duffin has certainly diversified at Stonehurst Farm.
As this film shows, Gregg's passion for the history of the automobile and
other domestic machinery has resulted in one of the most interesting farms
in the area.
Navratri
Every autumn Loughborough venues plays host to the nine day Hindu festival
of Navratri. This video was shot at Loughborough Town Hall where members of
local families may come from far and wide to dance over the nine nights of
the festival.

Organises annual cultural visits to Gujarat State in India. The trips include
visits to villages, town and cities, staying in a variety of different types
of accommodation which may also include family homes. The areas visited are
Bhavnagar in Saurashtra, Ahmedabad and Valod in the Surat District.
